Organized by the Kutjevački Vinari Association, an expert evaluation of Graševina wines, the most common wine variety in Croatia, was held on May 15, 2026, at the Kutjevački podrum restaurant.

The evaluation brought together oenologists and wine experts who, divided into three committees with seven members each, evaluated wines from different Croatian vineyards. The work of the committees was carried out under the expert guidance of the president of the evaluation committee, prof. dr.sc. Edi Miletić, with vice-presidents, dipl. ing. agr. Tomislav Raguž and dr.sc. Darko Cenbauer. The evaluation was conducted using the 100 positive points method, in accordance with the proposal of the International Wine Office and the International Society of Oenologists.

The best Graševina wines were evaluated in four categories for which championship medals are awarded: vintages 2024 - 2021, for dry wines (up to 5g/l and up to 5 years of age), vintages 2025 - for dry wines (up to 5g/l) and predicate and sparkling Graševina wines, and grand gold diplomas, gold, silver and bronze diplomas and awards will also be awarded. The grand gold diploma was won by 4 wines for receiving 95 or more points, while the gold diploma was won by 39 wines for receiving 90 to 94 points. These results further confirm the high quality of Graševina and the excellence of Croatian winemakers, and their wines will be presented at the Graševina Night Garden event at the end of May. The ceremonial announcement of the champions and the award ceremony will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, as part of the evening event Graševina Night Garden, in the atrium of Kutjevo Castle, starting at 7 p.m.

The event is open to the public with the purchase of a ticket, and in addition to the announcement of the best Graševina wines, visitors can expect a rich eno-gastronomic program that includes tastings of Graševina wines from Slavonia and the Croatian Danube region, as well as three-course gastronomic specialties. The atmosphere will be further enhanced by a musical program with DJ Boy and the ambiance of the Castle atrium under the starry sky.

The announcement of the champion marks the beginning of the central part of the wine events in Kutjevo, which will continue from May 30 to June 6 as part of the Graševina Festival 2026. The festival brings a rich program intended for wine lovers and the wider public, including open cellar days, gala dinners, a wine fair and a music program on Graševina Square.
