The beauty, splendor and attractions of the Danube region are presented at the Danube Festival at the Europa Cinema in Zagreb. Gastronomic offer, wine, tourist facilities, urban and cultural facilities of the Croatian and Vojvodina Danubian region were presented.
It is part of the project "Central Danube Tour, Strengthening Tourism Development in the Cross-Border Danube Region", co-financed by INTERREG IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Program Croatia - Serbia 2014 - 2020. Partners in this project are the institutions of Osijek-Baranja County, Ilok, Vojvodina and the Danube Center for Competence.
"The idea for this project was created by a similar cross-border tourism project at the borders of Italy, Slovenia and Austria. According to their experiences, the creation of a new unique cluster of the Central Danube was initiated, "said Ivana Jurić, director of the Tourist Board of the Osijek-Baranja County.
This means that all local attractions on both sides of the border now become common, explained Jasmina Beljan Iskrin, co-ordination of the Central Danube Tour project. For now, nine cross-border itineraries have been designed, which mainly include ethnographic, cultural and gastronomic offer and cycling routes, with an emphasis on the flavours and scents of the Danube.
Tourism Minister Assistant Snježana Brzica wished that such cross-border projects would be ever bigger in number. For the tourist success of this area, it is necessary to have as many domestic visitors as possible. "Every year, 100,000 Slavonia people go to vacation on the Adriatic and visit Zagreb. We wish that 100,000 tourists from the rest of Croatia will come to us throughout the year,"said Osijek-Baranja County Prefect Ivan Anušić, adding that the gastronomic and wine offer of the destination can be complemented with cruising and Danube beaches.
In Zagreb, there were also exhibitions from the area such as Exit Festival, Ukusi Vojvodine, Street Players Festival in Novi Sad, Pannonian Challenge and Earth Without Borders in Osijek, Wine & Bike Tour in Erdut, Wine Marathon in Baranja and DunavArt Festival. The program was complemented by the performances of Osijek rapper Kandžija, singer Zrinka Posavec and Podium Brass Quintet with the repertoire of the sounds of the Danube.
