Kaštelir Breakfast from Butiga

The excellent project "Breakfast from Butiga" was also recognised by the Croatian Tourist Board. Butiga is the local dialect word for the shop.

The Kaštelir store Butiga, widely known for its unique concept through which it offers exclusively domestic products from local family farm all year round, has recently introduced a novelty called "Breakfast from Butiga" into its offer. This commendable idea was also recognised by the Croatian Tourist Board, which allocated 4,652.5 euros from the Fund for Touristic Underdeveloped Areas to the project "Establishment of a quality mark award system - Breakfast from Butiga".

And when we talk about "Breakfast from Butiga", we are actually talking about a prepared basket of fresh, local ingredients. In it you can find homemade marmalade, butter, yoghurt, milk, salami, cheese, fresh bread and croissant. The idea of such a basket arose due to the fact that a large number of tourists stay in the Kaštelir-Labinci Municipality during the season, mostly in private accommodation units, such as holiday homes, which do not have boarding or half-board services like in hotels.

In other words, they don't serve meals, so there was a need to offer guests a unique product in a different way - a ready, healthy breakfast that is actually the aforementioned basket full of local products. The guest can buy "Breakfast from Butiga" in Butiga, a store located in Kaštelir, and the guest or renter can also order their basket two days in advance by calling 091 6153090 or through Butiga's Facebook page, and pick it up in Butiga, Kaštelir 29 b on the square in Kaštelir.

Immediately after it was introduced to the offer, "Breakfast from Butiga" became a hit, highly sought after by guests who recognised the combination of an excellent idea and the top quality of domestic, local ingredients. At the same time, this project certainly contributes to the development of the tourist product, but also works synergistically because it brings together all local producers. The use of local and eco products, namely, supports sustainable tourism and stimulates the local economy. Therefore, the whole story is extremely important for the entire local community, and will contribute to strengthening the image of the destination as a rural environment and the innovation of the tourist offer.
