This autumn, Međimurje – the green gem of northern Croatia – will be in the spotlight with the very first Wine&Walk event, taking place on 25 October 2025 in the heart of the gentle rolling hills surrounding Štrigova.
“Wine&Walk is not just another wine event; it is a true journey through the history and spirit of Međimurje, where tradition meets modernity, the aromas of local cuisine mingle with the sounds of the famous Međimurje folk song. This music remains a living symbol of identity, inscribed on UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage, adding yet another layer of richness to this unforgettable experience,” said Zvjezdana and Kristijan Kovačić, organisers of the event, at its launch in Zagreb’s Tajer restaurant. The manifestation is supported by the Međimurje County Tourist Board.
The trail awaiting wine enthusiasts – especially fans of Pušipel, the region’s indigenous variety, which recently gained its first World Pušipel Centre in Štrigova – stretches for 12 kilometres. This scenic route leads visitors through nine wine stops, where nine renowned local wineries will present their wines – from the recognisable Pušipel, through sparkling wines, to premium vintages and predicate wines crafted by dedicated winemakers. Every sip along the route offers a taste of the terroir of the Međimurje hills, producing wines with unique notes and character.
“Hosts at the World Pušipel Centre, housed in the Štrigova Cultural Centre, will warmly welcome all wine lovers. In addition to fine wines, visitors can expect a variety of traditional dishes perfectly paired with the wines. At several points along the route, live performances will reinterpret the Međimurje folk song in different styles, adding another dimension of enjoyment through top-quality music. As you can imagine, autumn in Međimurje will be something truly special,” said Rudi Grula, Director of the Međimurje County Tourist Board, at the press conference. He also announced that during the Wine&Walk event there will be a special tasting of Mlado vino – the first drops of this year’s harvest.
“Wine&Walk in Međimurje invites all lovers of nature, wine, and good company to step into this unique experience. Discover the blend of nature, tradition, and modernity that leaves lasting memories, new friendships, and the desire to return again and again to this green corner of Croatia,” concluded the Međimurje organisers, adding that for more information and tickets, visitors should go to Entrio.hr or contact the organisers at info@good-vibration-travel.com
