Fishermen's feasts in Vrsar

Traditional summer fishermen's festivals have already begun in Istria. So on Friday, May 30, the Vrsar waterfront once again smelled of fine seafood specialties and tradition when this year's second Fisherman's Festival began at 6 p.m.

This event has been the heart of Vrsar's tourist offer for years, combining authentic fishing culture with entertainment. Gastro lovers can expect a real treat through six carefully designed culinary zones. Each stand brings its own story - from delicate white fish specialties, to the intense flavors of oily fish, to shellfish, and the popular mixed fried fish and seafood. A special place is occupied by cephalopod dishes - squid, cuttlefish, and octopus, prepared in the traditional way.

As it was at the first festival of this year, two popular novelties of this season were also present: a sweet station where homemade desserts will be offered and a wine corner with selected Istrian wines and brandies - the perfect combination for a complete culinary experience.

The authenticity of the event lies in the fact that local fishermen and their families prepare all the delicacies. The culinary star of the evening was Robi Deak with his recognisable brodetto - a dish that has become synonymous with quality and tradition.

In addition to his brodetto, guests are offered other seafood delicacies: oily fish meatballs, stuffed sardines, pljukanci with caneštrela, buzara made from capelin, pedoći, tuna burger, squid on a spit, baked octopus legs, and many other specialties. Pop Gunz and Funbox Band took turns on stage, ensuring a pleasant atmosphere and good entertainment.

The event is also enriched by local OPGs, members of the "Domaća web tržnica" Association, which offer local products - homemade olive oil, traditional brandies and liqueurs, fresh fruit and vegetables, natural cosmetics and handmade wooden products. This was an opportunity to meet producers directly and taste the highest quality Istrian products.

The next Fisherman's Festival is scheduled for July 11th and 25th, August 8th and 29th, and September 19th.
